FBI STYLE: The Punisher Talks to SHARP Magazine

Large portions information and all of the quotes featured in this article originally appeared in SHARP Magazine.

This week we were given the heads up from our friends in Canada at SHARP Magazine about a showcase / interview that featured The Punisher himself, Jon Bernthal. While all of our individual styles might be different, how can you say “no” to this kind of request? He’s THE PUNISHER!

Today is the day that Daredevil Season 2 hit Netflix queues the world over – expect full season and individual episode reviews from FanboysInc the in the very near future – and Bernthal’s portrayal of Frank Castle, the man who becomes The Punisher, is on the lighting up social media and for good reason.

In the original article, Berthal goes into detail about his actor’s process for his transformation into the man in the Marvel Universe who sees military-style, violent death as the only means to his particular ends; “I had to stop all contact with my wife and kids for months at a time. I’d put a bunch of weight in my backpack and walk back and forth over the Brooklyn Bridge alone. I really locked myself down with the source material and stayed within that darkness, not getting distracted with anything unrelated to the character”.

To quote the article his “electric focus” is front and center from the start of the season, as is his trademark onscreen signature brooding, something that’s started to follow him around in both acting and in style communities, as evidenced by this full spread which features Bernthal decked out in everything from a $200 pair of cotton Nudie Jeans to a $2,000 John Varvatos leather jacket, complete with classic American muscle car. His natural style is an interesting and stark contrast to his gruff exterior, again, to reference the article, Bernthal is a former boxer who has been on the receiving end of no less than 14 broken noses.

Old wounds doesn’t keep The Punisher down, though! If anything, they only inspire him to have the strength to get revenge against his enemies and look good while he’s doing it! Hell, Bernthal was so good in Season 2 of Daredevilt here’s even rumors of a Punisher spin-off show! (Information you can also find in the original article!) Thanks again to SHARP Magazine, watch Daredevil Season 2 on Netflix, and keep a look-out for a slew of reviews from FanboysInc!
