If you are here and reading this article, then we can only assume you are a FAN of something! We have a very simple motto at FanboysInc: We put the “fan” back in fanboy. So much negative association has come from fanboy, and fangirl, rage towards topics people feel strongly attached to. Whether it’s a favorite T.V. series, or movie franchise, or comic book series, or ANYTHING that captures your imagination and fandom, it is worth celebrating, and not arguing about. That is why we strive to put out the best content that lauds the stuff we are all fans of, and also to help you discover things you didn’t know you were a fan of yet!

We are expanding here at FanboysInc, and that is where you might come in! We are currently looking for writers and contributors to help us put out as much content as possible. If you are passionate about something, and you like to write, this might just be the place for your thoughts to be heard! Some writing experience is definitely welcomed Рeither some formal training, or even just a healthy writing habit, whether you keep a journal or a blog. This is what we are looking for content wise:

We have a few reviewers right now, but there are so many comics that come out each week, we would love to have more! If you are an avid reader, this might be the perfect fit for you. We are looking for reviews of Marvel, DC, Image, IDW, Dark Horse, Boom, and more! Also, we review independent comics as well, which is a cool way to discover new and up and coming talent in the comic industry.

The movie landscape is pretty much dominated by the “geek” fandoms nowadays, and we would love to have more movie reviews on FanboysInc. This field is wide open at the moment, but we would like to stay grounded to the fandoms that we talk about on this website. BUT: if you are a rabid movie goer, and you would like to give reviewing a try, we can work with you on what movies we would like to see reviews of, and what movies you are currently wanting to see.

Again, we have a few reviewers doing only a few shows now, and it seems like TV is endless with new and exciting programming! Add Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and more streaming services with original programs into the mix, and the list seems unending. If you are a binge watcher, or even a fan of just a specific show, and you would like to have your thoughts published, well then this would be for you!

FanboysInc has not done much with the vast gaming community, but we plan on rectifying that in 2016. Some of us are gamers, but we are doing so many other things here that we can never find the time to PLAY the games, let alone write about them! This is an idea we are developing right now, so you could be the first reviewer of video games on this site. Not just video games though, are you an avid board or card game player? We would love to add that type of content as well.

We talk a lot of collectables on our various podcasts on the FanboysInc network, but we don’t have enough written content about all the amazing toys and collectables that come out throughout the year. Are you a big collector of action figures, statues, or the ever growing Funko Pop type things? Then this might be the perfect fit for your writing talents.

If any of these sparks your interest, check out these guidelines for exactly what we are looking for in writers for FanboysInc.

  • we strive to have good content that weighs the pros and cons of what you are reviewing
  • absolutely no “fanboy/fangirl rage” Make your points about what you like or dislike, and cite examples and references to back up your opinions
  • the pieces you write should be in your own voice, so all of our reviewers have their own flair to the articles the write. Bring your own individual spin to our established formats in reviews, interviews, and articles.
  • we grade everything on a scale of 1-10, with a point system in between. (Like 6.8, or 9.2). There is no set scale, that is up to your own determination, but you need to add a few sentences to back up why you gave that score
  • Our Editor in Chief will edit your pieces and try to make a consistent type of content throughout the site. This is very important. No one is a “perfect” writer, and everyone’s work, no matter how good, can benefit from a different set of eyes. If you are not OK with someone editing your work, or if you do not like constructive criticism, then this isn’t the site for you.

Finally, the bottom line. We all do what we do at FanboysInc because we are passionate about the things we love, and we believe in creating a hub for people to get great content about the things they love. This is a “quid-pro-quo” type situation. We are able to give you opportunities to hopefully meet like minded people, have your work read and seen by all of our fanbase, and possibly even comps for specific merchandise and conventions down the road. The possibilities of tickets to comic cons, free swag from distributors and sponsors, and the potential of having publishers quote your work are all perks you can expect from being a part of FanboysInc.

If you would love to express your thoughts and feelings about the things you are a fan of, then we would love to give you a shot as a writer for FanboysInc. No writing experience is technically required, but some knowledge of communications or creative writing is welcomed.  You can contact us today at, just let us know your writing expertise(if any), the content you would like to cover, and we can start talking from there. You can always revisit the requirements on our website at the Join The Team tab. Hope to hear from you soon, and keep finding things to be a fan of!

Both my parents instilled in me at an early age the awesome power and incredible wonder of the written word. My father sat with me when I was four years old and taught me to enjoy reading with classic comic strips like SPIDERMAN, PEANUTS, B.C. and, later, CALVIN AND HOBBES. My mother exposed me to such classics of literature as Poe, Tolkien, Stoker and Doyle, and I started my own comic collection with allowance money from mowing lawns. I liked Wolverine before it was cool, I watched as Superman died and returned, and huddled under the covers as I turned the pages of SANDMAN. Reading is like oxygen to me, and all genres and formats are welcome and devoured equally. I am the co-host of The DW and Incredible Jeff Show, CEO of Permian Productions, and a reviewer at Graphic Novel Reporter. I am 34 and live in scenic Saratoga Springs New York, where I haunt coffee shops and dive bars and the best comic shop anywhere, The Comic Depot.
