CBTVB: Will These Characters Appear in Agent Carter?

The fansite Film Divider is reporting that they have uncovered a cast list for the upcoming ABC midseason show Marvel’s Agent Carter, Hayley Atwell’s secret agent from the Captain America movies.

Agent Carter is to take place in a Post-World War II era, right at the cusp of the nuclear age and the creation of S.H.I.E.L.D. The creative staff of the show recently revealed that Agent Carter was born out of Disney President Bob Iger‘s desire to see a story beyond the Marvel One-Shot of the same name that was released on the Iron Man 3 DVD. Iger had a similar influence on the production of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. after seeing the Marvel’s Avengers DVD One-Shot, Item 47.

Deputy Director Roger Hooley is a hardworking, principled older man and Peggy’s boss. As you might expect, he’s bothered by ongoing problems in his personal life as well as the challenges of his day job.

Agent Jack Thompson is in his 30s, handsome and damn well knows it. The polar opposite of Dooley, he doesn’t take kindly to women in the workplace, nor how little recognition he gets. Worse, he wants Dooley’s job and is desperate to prove himself.

Edward Hutchins is a highly professional agent with an unusual problem; duplicity. He’s lying to his wife about what he does to stop her worrying. True Lies, SHIELD style.

Daniel Sousa is everything Jack Thompson wants to be. He’s a war hero who walks using a leg brace, but finds dealing with office politics to be harder than working around his injury. Sousa is also a fiercely honourable, gentle man and we’re betting he becomes one of Peggy’s major allies.

And outside of the agency, there’s Angie Martinelli. Working as an automat waitress, Angie dreams of being a singer. She’s a tough, compassionate young woman who is smart and loyal and seems set to be Peggy’s anchor to the world away from SHIELD.

One description missing, or maybe he doesn’t need one, is Dominic Cooper‘s Howard Stark, who plays a key-role in bringing Peggy to S.H.I.E.L.D. There has been no confirmation from sources whether Cooper would return. Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas are producing Agent Carter while Marvel go-to feature film writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus have written the pilot. Butter and Fazekas also confirmed that McFeely and Markus would return as much as they could as they were already working on Captain America 3. Chris Dingess is also an executive producer on the show, but they acknowledged they were still in the process of finding directors and actors for the show.

Agent Carter is slated to start production on its 8-episode mini-series in Los Angeles in August 2014
