CBTVB: Two Actors Added to Agent Carter

By Muuka Muyumba

Having previously played “Young Cop” in Marvel’s The Avengers, Enver Gjokaj will return to the Marvel Universe, this time in the upcoming Agent Carter TV series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gjokaj will play Agent Daniel Sousa, who “will meet Carter while she takes on a new role at the pre-SHIELD Strategic Scientific Reserve in New York City.”

Gjokai is best known for playing Victor in Joss Whedon‘s Dollhouse, but he’s also appeared in the likes of The Walking Dead, Dexter and Witches of East End. Captain America: Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo will helm episodes two and three of the series, with the first film’s director Joe Johnston rumored to return to head ep 4.

Marvel also reports that Chad Michael Murray (Fruitvale Station, One Tree Hill) has been cast in the role of SSR Agent Jack Thompson. They’ve also released the official synopsis for the show: “Marvel’s Agent Carter, starring Captain America’s Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers.”

In July, unconfirmed character descriptions emerged that included both of the now confirmed roles each actor is filling. Agent Sousa was described as everything Jack Thompson wants to be. He’s a war hero who walks using a leg brace, but finds dealing with office politics to be harder than working around his injury. Sousa is also a fiercely honorable, gentle man likely to become one of Peggy’s major allies.

Agent Jack Thompson is supposed to be in his 30s, handsome and damn well knows it. He doesn’t take kindly to women in the workplace, nor how little recognition he gets. Worse, he wants a deputy director job and is desperate to prove himself.

A specific premiere date for Agent Carter has not yet been determined, but it will air in Agents of SHIELD’s slot on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. when the latter show goes on its winter hiatus.
