CBTVB: Marvel’s Legion TV Series Picked Up By FX Networks

Marvel has announced that FX Network is picking up an 8 episode season of the Noah Hawley (Fargo) drama Legion. The show features Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens stars as David Haller in a Marvel/Fox collaboration about a troubled young man who may be more than human. This will be the first Marvel series to delve into the world of X-Men on TV, broadcast or cable as the character is known in the comics for being the mad son of Charles Xavier, leader of the school for mutants.

‘”Legion” introduces the story of David Haller: Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.’

The show stars Stevens, as well as Rachel Keller (Fargo), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), and Emmy-winner Jean Smart (Fargo). Legion also brings together the X-Men film producers (Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, and Simon Kinberg) and the Marvel TV producers (Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory). Production on the eight-episode first season will begin this summer in Vancouver and the new series from FX Productions and Marvel Television will debut on FX in early 2017.
