CBTVB: Marvel is Working on Bringing Moon Knight to TV

Moon Knight, commonly known as Marvel’s Batman, is said to be in the works for Marvel TV Entertainment as an addition to their Netflix Defenders slate.

During a recent episode of Collider Heroes, Heroic Hollywood editor El Mayimbe, aka Umberto Gonzalez, reported that he heard that Marvel is looking to develop Moon Knight as a backdoor pilot for Netflix.

Moon Knight is the creation of Doug Moench and Don Perlin, and first appeared in Werewolf by Night #32 (August 1975). Marc Spector is the son of an American rabbi who as an adult becomes a strong and skilled fighter after training as a heavyweight box and as a former Marine.

While working for an African mercenary in Egypt, he stumbles on an archaeological dig that uncovers an ancient temple where artifacts of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. After a group of Egyptians foils the dig looting, Spector is captured and taken to the tomb where he has a vision of Khonshu in a dream and awakens, raps himself with the silver shroud, and confronts the looters himself. Spector returns to the states and then decides to become a crimefighter called Moon Knight.

To aid his crimefighting, Spector develops superhuman strength as a result of the visitation of Khonshu, and the degree of his strength depends on the phases of the moon.

These rumblings seem to be telling us that Marvel is working hard to expand its Netflix footprint at least in terms of bring more Marvel heroes and villains into the already established Defenders saga. Aside from already having Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, and Iron Fist, rumors abound that Blade as well as Moon Knight into this TV universe.
