In October of 2015, news broke that a television adaptation of the comic book series, Y: The Last Man was finally under development at FX, but no new news had been available since.

However, this weekend at the recent TCA press tour, FX CEO John Landgraf said that Vaughan himself has creative control of the series adaptation, offering “[w]e’ve had a number of producers and writers who really want to participate in that. Ultimately, it’s Brian’s call who he wants to work with and I think that’ll come out soon.”

So, creator and putative showrunner, Brian K. Vaughn is full creative control for the upcoming project, but ultimately, there has been no announcements of any new hires for the show.

Y: The Last Man was a multi-volume graphic novel that told the story of Yorick Brown who discovers that he is the last man on Earth after a virus wipes out the male population of all species around the world, except for a male capuchin monkey named Ampersand who happens to be Yorick’s magician’s prop. Y and Ampersand set off on an adventure with Agent 355, a female Secret Service sect member, who is tasked with protecting the 2 as they search for Y’s family, and any sign of other male life in the world.

No word on when we can expect the show to hit FX, but official word is sure to follow soon of the start of pre-production.
