CBTVB: Game of Thrones Star Cast as Marvel’s Iron Fist

By Muuka Muyumba

Game of Thrones star Finn Jones, according to reporting by The Hashtag Show, has been cast as Danny Rand aka Marvel’s Iron Fist in Netflix’s Defenders series of superhero stories. Jones would be the last of Netflix’s to be cast, following Daredevil’s Charlie Cox (which releases Season 2 on March 18), Jessica Jones’s Krysten Ritter (which recently scored a Season 2 pickup) and Luke Cage’s Mike Colter.

(Updated) RUMOR: Game Of Thrones' Finn Jones May Be Our Iron Fist

Created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, Iron Fist first appeared in Marvel Premiere #15 (May 1974), as a billionaire playboy who is taught the mystical martial arts of K’un-L’un which imbues him with the supernatural ability to summon immense power in one punch. Coincidentally, Marvel released the 2nd part of the trailer for the upcoming Daredevil series, which features the evil Japanese ninja society, the Hand, prominently from the first season, as well as teases an unspoken ancient Asian mysticism like the Black Sky.

Power Man & Iron Fist

Iron Fist is also quite often paired with this best friend Luke Cage as they coined the team up phrase ‘Heroes for Hire’ back in the 1970s. He is currently teamed up with Luke Cage in an exciting new run from writer David Walker and artist Sanford Greene. So, we can look forward to some relationship building between these characters in the Netflix series.

No word on when we might see Iron Fist hit the streaming service, but a good guess might be the second half of next year, which has typically been when Netflix has debuted the premiere seasons of its Defenders saga. No confirmation has come from Marvel yet.
