CBTVB: FX is Reportedly Working on Bringing Y The Last Man to TV

Many have tried and many have failed, but now reports are that FX is working on bringing the long-gestating Y: The Last Man graphic novels to the cable station.

Y: The Last Man was a 60 issue maxi-series of comics from Vertigo Comics beginning in 2002 about the only surviving man of a plague that killed even living male mammal on Earth except for a young slacker name Yorick Brown and his pet Capuchin monkey, Ampersand.

Today, the Hollywood Reporter is reporting that FX is developing the series with Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson with creator Brian K. Vaughn on as a writer and producer on the show.

The series was originally acquired by New Line Cinema way back in 2007 with screenwriter Carl Ellsworth and director D.J. Caruso attached to a David Goyer production. The initial reports had Caruso’s then-muse Shia LeBoeuf attached to portray Yorick. Despite what was then a reputable set of names attached, the production never got off the ground because of the perceived exorbitant cost. After several different names came and went from the production, Vaughn was interviewed in January 2014 and informed everyone that he believed the rights had reverted back him and co-creator Pia Guerra.

No word on when we might see the series on TV.
