CBMB: Tom Hiddleston Reports for Duty on Thor: Ragnorak
By Muuka Muyumba
Tom Hiddleston is one of the few stars to emerge from the Marvel Cinematic Universe more famous than before he was in the MCU. In the Thor franchise, he may have a higher profile for fans than the titular hero, Chris Hemsworth. Loki was such a star of the first Thor film that Avengers director Joss Whedon thought he would be a great villain for the blockbuster.
However, during the walk-up to Thor: Ragnorak, the 3rd film in the Thor Franchise, many wondered whether we would see Hiddleston’s Loki would be part of the fun cast. Then, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige finally announced that Hiddleston would indeed be in Ragnorak back in October of 2014.
Today, we got confirmation that Hiddleston and Loki were indeed joining in on the fun after he posted a cheeky photo of himself in full costume on his Instagram.
At the end of Thor: The Dark World, Loki was passing himself off as Odin, but we didn’t know just how he had put himself in this position. Loki wasn’t supposed to have a large role in The Dark World, but his popularity forced Marvel to wedge him in even more than he was in the initial script of the film.
Now, Hiddleston joins Cate Blanchett as Hela, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, and the Warriors Three plus Lady Sif. Taika Waititi is directing the film.
Thor: Ragnorak hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
