CBMB: Tom Hardy Developing 100 Bullets for New Line

By Muuka Muyumba

Tom Hardy still doesn’t have an Oscar nomination under his wing, but is poised to start to build up his resume toward that with his upcoming true-life gangster film Legend. Today, news arrived that he is working on developing the comic book adaptation of 100 Bullets for his own production company Hardy Son & Baker.

The film will center on a script from Chris Borelli based on the comic series centered on an “…enigmatic man named Agent Graves as he presents different people, for reasons unknown, with a gun, the identity of the person who ruined their lives…and a hundred rounds of untraceable ammunition.”

DC Comics chief creative office Geoff Johns and Adam Schlagman are executive producers for DC Comics while Richard Brener, Walter Hamada, and Dave Neustadter produce for New Line. This add another DC subsidiary title (Vertigo) to Warners/New Line slate along with development on Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Sandman picture. Just yesterday, the news broke that Mark Millar’s Nemesis movie is moving to Warner Bros from Fox, but no word whether this will also shift to New Line’s comic book adaptation slate. The upcoming Shazam feature is said to be part of New Line’s slate as well although this film will be part of Warner’s DC Extended Universe of superhero films.

Hardy is no stranger to comic book roles as Christopher Nolan tapped him to play the Batman villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. He had also been rumored for roles as Rick Flagg in Suicide Squad, and openly expressed interest in playing the Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hardy is set to join Inception co-star Leonardo DiCaprio for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s gothic epic Revenant, due out this fall.
