CBMB: Spider-Man Sequel is Planning a Homecoming for its Director and Writers
By Muuka Muyumba

Marvel and Sony announced today that writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are coming back to write the sequel to the smash hit Spider-Man: Homecoming. The movie is rumored to be titled I Am Spider-Man with director Jon Watts negotiating to return as well.

Chris McKenna
Marvel rebooted Spider-Man for Sony within its Marvel Cinematic Universe, first in Captain America: Civil War, and then in Homecoming for his first solo film starring Tom Holland. The film saw both critical and financial success prompting Marvel to gather the creative team back together. However, the first writers named on Homecoming, writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, are more than likely out, according to a response I got from movie news reporter Sean Gerber.

Erik Sommers
McKenna and Sommers also wrote the script for Ant-Man and the Wasp for Marvel signaling that they may become another important writing duo along the lines of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely who have been writing for the MCU since Captain America: the First Avenger. This continuity of writing experience could produce interesting character development for Peter Parker ala Steve Rogers.
