CBMB: Rachel McAdams Rumored to up for Female Lead in Dr. Strange

By Muuka Muyumba

According to Heroic Hollywood, Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes, True Detective) has been offered the female lead in Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange, which is currently under pre-production with director Scott Derrickson (Insidious), and based on the screenplay by Jon Sphaits.

Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) is headlining as the Sorcerer Supreme with rumored roles for Chiwetel Ejiafor (12 Years a Slave) and Tilda Swinton (Michael Clayton). Coincidentally, McAdams has had a role in Warner Bros. Sherlock Holmes franchise as Irene Adler, but (SPOILER) met her demise in the last Robert Downey, Jr. thriller. No comment has come from Marvel or McAdams people.

This wouldn’t be McAdams’s first run-in with Marvel as she was rumored to be up for Pepper Pots before Gwenyth Paltrow scooped it up the role in the first Iron Man.

Dr. Strange is scheduled to be released in theaters next year on November 4, 2016.
