CBMB: Pedro Pascal Set to Join Wonder Woman 2 in ‘Crucial Role’

By Muuka Muyumba

Game of Thrones and Narcos star Pedro Pascal has been cast to join the sequel to the blockbusting Wonder Woman 2. The film does not have an official title yet, but is rumored to center around Diana (Gal Gadot) returning to the world of Man during the Cold War era of the early ’80s.

Pascal’s is unknown now but is said to be crucial which may suggest either a love-interest or a villain. Pascal joins Gadot and Kristin Wiig, who is slated to play the villain Cheetah, along with director Patty Jenkins who returns to helm the set now set for release on November 1, 2019.

Wonder Woman 1 has been a rare bright spot for the troubled DC’s cinematic universe, grossing $821 million worldwide, including $412 domestically, as well as scoring with critics.

Pascal has experience playing conflicted characters having played the beloved Oberyn Martell on Game of Thrones who was not only sexually fluid, but also a motivationally fluid antihero on the show. On Narcos, Pascal got to flex his bilingual skills as Javier Pena, the DEA agent who went to extreme measures to take down the Columbian cartels.

Will Pascal portray a similar character or will Diana look to him for a virtuous role similarly to Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) is the first film. Ironically, Pascal also had a role on the failed David E. Kelley Wonder Woman project from a few years ago.

What is clear is that Jenkins is getting actors she loves rather than the name at the top of casting lists.
