CBMB: Patty Jenkins Trades Up for Wonder Woman

By Muuka Muyumba

Patty Jenkins, once the director of Thor: The Dark World, gets her superhero franchise as she signs on to director Wonder Woman. She steps in after Michelle MacLaren parted ways with Warner Bros due to “creative differences”. Oddly enough, Jenkins cited similar reasons for leaving Thor: The Dark World, but is now primed to be the first female director for a female-led superhero film.

Jenkins started her career writing and directing the prestige film Monster, leading to Charlize Theron’s Oscar for best actress. She also stuffed her resume with a couple episodes of The Killing, Entourage, and Arrested Development, mostly because she couldn’t find a feature film to direct. I am curious whether we can expect Jenkins to take a pass at the script from Jason Fuchs, since MacLaren may have left because she didn’t care for what was written.

Wonder Woman is due out in theaters in 2017.
