CBMB: Noah Hawley Developing a Doctor Doom Film

By Muuka Muyumba

Acclaimed writer Noah Hawley has forged a large reputation as a challenging storyteller for Fox Studios. Hawley has written and directed series for FX cable network on shows like Fargo and Marvel’s Legion. Hawley has also racked up bestselling and critical acclaim for his own authorship for a book called Before the Fall.

Hawley is now reportedly working on a project, apparently for Fox movie studios, about Doctor Doom. Viktor Von Doom was a Stan Lee and Jack Kirby creation for the Fantastic Four to battle against when the first hit the pages of Marvel Comics back in the ’60s. The creator has been featured in both versions of the live-action Fantastic Four films to little success with Julian McMahon and Toby Kebbell suffering the slings and arrows of fanboys and girls.

Now, the prospect of Doctor Doom’s words being written by Mr. Hawley has fanboys and girls salivating. Hawley created shear terror with his interpretation of the Yellow King in season 1 of Legion.

Many have suggested that what Doctor Doom has lacked on the big screen is the pure malice and arrogance that the villain has embodied in the comics. Hawley is a creator of singular vision and likely won’t be cowed to make Doom some kind of poser anti-hero.

Hawley will not only write the project, but is prepping it to direct himself. No word on whether this film will have any connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Fox’s X-universe.
