Well, we thought he was done with superheroes after his magnum-opus Birdman, but now Oscar-nominated actor Michael Keaton looks to be returning for another superhero franchise.
Keaton is being rumored for the role of the The Vulture, a classic Spider-Man villain, for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Just last night, Marvel and Sony announced the official title for Tom Holland’s solo debut which hits theaters in July of 2017.
Keaton is best known as a comedy legend who surprised as the first big screen Batman. He is currently completing work on the Ray Kroc biopic The Founder, and drew Oscar-worthy acclaim for his work in Spotlight last year. Keaton will reportedly be featured as the villain according to most reports, but there is also the possibility of a role in other Spidey capacities like Uncle Ben, Norman Osborn, or J. Jonah Jameson.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to start filming this summer from a script by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley with Jon Watts directing the film.
