CBMB: Kurt Russell Rumored to Have a Role in Guardians of the Galaxy Sequel
By Muuka Muyumba
Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume II nears production in Atlanta, and not a day goes by without the social media maven James Gunn swatting away rumors on Twitter.
All right everybody who is blowing up my feed. I appreciate the interest but as I said a few weeks ago I’m gonna quit commenting on rumors.

Today, there was one more rumor that he apparently could not swat away so easily: El Mayimbe at Heroic Hollywood and The Wrap are reporting that Kurt Russell is Marvel Studios’ target to play the crucial role of Peter Quill’s (Chris Pratt) father.
Recently, Heroic Hollywood had reported a rumor that Peter Quill’s father was in fact the first Captain Marvel, which Gunn was quick to shoot down, and Heroic Hollywood later ‘retracted’. But, what may have been wrong about the rumor was that Marvel was focused on finding a significant actor for the role, even if it wasn’t Mar-vell.
Russell needs little introduction as he’s been a working actor for almost 50 years. He has been seeded in American culture as a child star in the early days of Disney live-action films. He then went on to be a matinee idol in the 70s and 80s in some serious B-pictures like The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, Escape from New York, and Used Cars. In the 90s, he became more of an action hero in films like Soldier, Stargate, Backdraft, and Tombstone.
Lately, Russell has become the treasured character actor who is a welcome sight in some of today’s modern ‘thoughtful’ actioners like Bone Tomahawk, The Hateful 8, and The Fast and Furious franchise. Many of the sentiments across the internet have said that Russell is the logical antecedent to Pratt having played a version of Star-Lord in the wacky Big Trouble in Little China.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
