CBMB: James Wan in Consideration to Direct Aquaman

By Muuka Muyumba

Furious 7 director James Wan is rumored to be in consideration for heading up Warner Bros production of Aquaman.  After Wonder Woman lost Michelle MacLaren as its director, Warners is searching for some good news to overcome that disappointment (possibly by releasing the trailer for Batman v Superman early).

Wan has proven deft at moving between genres, having made his name with the Saw and Insidious movies. He went from horror thrillers into a purely action film like Furious¬†7 which is well on its way to becoming the highest grossing film in the franchise. Yesterday, during AMC Movie Talk, Collider’s Frosty Weintraub said that he believed that Marvel had actually reached out to Wan first, and that his commitment to the Fast and Furious series may not allow him to switch to WB or Marvel.

Wan has essentially made a superhero film with Fast 7, so he may not need to move to scratch that itch.

Aquaman star Jason Momoa as the King of Atlantis and is slated for a stand-alone film in late July of 2018.
