CBMB: Gambit Gets Closer to Reality

By Muuka Muyumba

After many months of concern over whether the project would get off the ground, Channing Tatum’s entrance into the X-Men universe is reportedly ready to start production in March 2016.

Gambit will reportedly start production in New Orleans under the direction of Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow). Tatum is looking to break out a character who, much like his X-Men Origins: Wolverine co-star Deadpool, received an inauspicious introduction in that X-Men debacle.

Gambit will tell the story of the the classic X-Men cavalier, Remy Lebeau, who is somewhat of a similar to Wolverine in that Gambit will resist being the traditional hero. Tatum has been angling for this role for several years now, and it must be pretty special to this production quickly approaching. Tatum has touted his Cajun heritage as a key advantage to understanding and playing the role (as well as his luxurious locks below).

Tatum will be joined by French actress Lea Seydoux (Spectre, Mission: Impossible IV) who is rumored to play Belladonna Boudreaux, a childhood friend of Remy’s in the comic whose family belongs to a rival guild of assassins. To unite the guilds, a marriage is arranged between the two.

The amazing part of this story is that Gambit will begin production in March, and is slated for release on October 7, 2016. They will have 7 months for pre-production, filming, post-production, possible reshoots, and then premiere. A daunting task indeed, Cherie.
