Multiple Man aka Jamie Madrox, a creation of legendary Len Wein, is a mutant with the ability to duplicate himself repeatedly. Madrox first appeared in Giant-Size Fantastic Four #4 in February 1975. He has no other mutant ability or super strength so the storytelling for the film may be unique for an X-Men movie.

The character made his first appearance in a feature film in 2006 in X-Men: The Last Stand which was portrayed by Eric Dane. This film is being written by Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg and Simon Kinberg who is also producing.

Fox continues to work aggressively at mining their X-characters for an expanding Marvel universe. Multiple Man may be another chance for Fox to mine a property for comedy ala Deadpool. However, this would make another male-led project for the studio along with Deadpool 2 and Ryan Reynolds, Gambit and Channing Tatum, and last year’s Logan and Hugh Jackman.

Fox has yet to break out any of its female heroes or villains like Rogue, Lady Deathstrike, Mystique, X23, or Storm. Now, mind you, Marvel Studios has yet to do this either, but Captain Marvel is slated to reap the benefits of the Wonder Woman lovefest. The next X-Men films slated right now are The New Mutants in April 2018, Deadpool 2 in June 2018, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix will hit theaters on November 2, 2018. New Mutants and Phoenix will focus primarily on female characters.

There has been no release date reported for Multiple Man.
