CBMB: Fox Studios’ ‘Marvelverse’ Shuffles Release Dates

By Muuka Muyumba

Multiple sources are reporting that Fox is shuffling many of their films slated for 2016 and 2017, particularly films that are part of their Marvelverse: Fox’s films based on characters licensed from Marvel Entertainment, including the X-Men and Fantastic Four, and various supporting characters.

Currently, Fox has several projects in the hopper from their Marvel license beginning with The Fantastic Four on August 7, 2015, then the next X-Men films, Deadpool, is set for February 12, 2016 (Happy freaking Valentine’s), and X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27, 2016.

What is new is Gambit is slated to October 7, 2016 (a month before Dr. Strange and Sinister Six), an untitled Wolverine movie on March 3, 2017 (a week before Kong: Skull Island), and The Fantastic Four 2 is now set for June 2, 2017 (a month after Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and 3 weeks before an untitled DC film).

BoxOfficeMojo.com is also reporting that there is another untitled Fox Marvelverse release date on July 13, 2018.

So, it would appear that Fox is not relinquishing their hold on their Marvel properties any time soon. Where Sony is struggling to figure out what to do with their franchise that prints money (The Amazing Spider-Man), Fox righted the ship with X-Men: Days of Future Past in 2014 and has stamped the future of their Marvelverse.
