CBMB: Deadpool Debuts First Official Trailer

By Muuka Muyumba

Warm up the chimichangas! Ryan Reynolds debuted the new trailer for 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool 2: When Wade Met Cable (I made that up) today on his social medias account, and from the looks of it, the movie will continue to present a perverse Deadpool worldview. The film will also give us the on-screen debut of Cable aka Nathan Summers, the future cyborg mutant who is the son of Scott Summer aka Cyclops and a clone of Jean Grey (it’s complicated).

Oscar-nominee Josh Brolin breaks out his usually gritty demeanor for a comedic romp through the world of X-Men and New Mutants. Now, some might be a little confused by another Brolin voiceover that gives off shades of Thanos from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s because Brolin plays both of these roles. We can only hope that Deadpool cracks several jokes about this throughout his movie.

At one point in the trailer, it looks as though Deadpool has gathered together a team of mutants (maybe the first version of X-Force) to work alongside him, including the never-before-mentioned Terry Crews as an unknown mutant (maybe Bishop?), as well as the featured player Zazie Beetz as Domino.

We also get a double-barrelled look at Julian Dennison as a captured mutant who still has a little Ricky Baker in him.  Dennison’s character has yet to be revealed though he appears to play a pivotal role in the story.

We know very little about the storyline of this film, but have to wonder whether Cable has some from the future to rescue a very young Rachel Summers (Cable’s sister in some timelines) who may be the key to the survival of mutants in the future.  For Fox’s part, the movie’s description gives us absolutely no clues.

From 20th Century Fox:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Deadpool 2 also sees the return of Karan Soni as Dopinder, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al.

Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18, 2018.
