CBMB: Chris Pine is Indeed Coming to the DC Universe in Wonder Woman

By Muuka Muyumba

Chris Pine (Star Trek) has reportedly closed a deal to appear in the Wonder Woman solo film with a sequel options to play the male lead (possibly the only male in the film) as Steve Trevor.

Trevor is Wonder Woman’s introduction to the world of men as he crash lands in Themiscyra, leading Diana (Gal Gadot) to consider a world outside her own. In the comics, his character has been everything from Diana’s main squeeze to her pined-after lover to scorned lover who acts as the government liaison for the Justice League.

The scuttlebutt has been that the first Wonder Woman solo film would be a period film ala Captain America: The First Avenger, but with sequels on the table, we have to wonder whether things will change. Patty Jenkins (Monster) is directing Wonder Woman, which Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder are producing with Charles Roven and Richard Suckle of Atlas Entertainment. Jason Fuchs wrote the script after working with Warner Bros. on Joe Wright’s Pan.

Pine had also been in consideration for the role of Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern, but this deal closes that door leaving the role open as Warners looks to cast for various Lanterns.

Wonder Woman will be introduced in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before her solo movie hits theaters on June 23, 2017.
