CBMB: Channing Tatum Could Be Done Gambling with Gambit

By Muuka Muyumba

TheWrap is reporting that Channing Tatum and 20th Century Fox are still locked in discussions but somewhat at a lager-heads for unknown reasons. Rumors have it that Tatum is ready to walk as the star of the film, though the report continues that he may retain a producing credit if Gambit moves forward. This is particularly odd as Tatum has been remarkably vocal about his interest in the role over the last 2 years.

All signs point to the film moving forward with Tatum or not though he was out front for the 2017 movie just 2 weeks ago at San Diego Comic Con. The studio and director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) have been in the process of testing young actresses to star alongside Tatum, including Lea Seydoux (Spectre, Blue is the Warmest Color).

TheWrap is still unclear what the source of the hesitation on Tatum’s part, but they do acknowledge that Tatum’s reps are still in active discussions with the studio. Tatum is a high-in-demand actor and producer, and may have his schedule pressing against him if there is an unexpected delay like Fox needing to push Gambit back on its schedule.  Tatum and Fox both had no comment about the report.

Gambit is slated for release on October 7, 2016.
