CBMB: Cate Blanchett Moves Closer to a Role in Thor: The Dark World

By Muuka Muyumba

Variety reported an exclusive that 2-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett is warming up negotiations with Marvel to join the Australian production of Thor: Ragnorak.

This rumor appears to be solidifying as we have already reported, but Marvel has no comment on the report at this point. Thor 3 is reportedly working on casting at least 2 major female roles. Some are suggesting these roles may be Brunhilde, The Enchantress, Hela, and/or Lady Death.

New Zealander Taika Waiti is set to direct Ragnorak with Chris Hemsworth returning to play the title role. Another major female role filled in the film includes Stephany Folsom who was recently brought in to polish the script.

Blanchett is no stranger to the fantasy-adventure world having played Galadriel in the Lord of the Rings universe. Her entre into the Marvel universe could be in a particularly powerful role that hopefully could spill into the rest of Marvel Phase 4 films.

Thor: Ragnorak is currently slated for Marvel to release the film on November 3, 2017.
