CBMB: Brie Larson tops Marvel’s List for Captain Marvel
By Muuka Muyumba
Variety is reporting that Oscar-winner Brie Larson has emerged as the early front-runner to play Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in the upcoming franchise kick-starter.
Larson was long known as the ‘It’ girl next door in such films as 21 Jump Street and Trainwreck, but she’s expanded her dramatic range in independent films like Short Term 12 and Room. She cemented her place in Hollywood with her Oscar, but many believed that she has long been a topliner for Marvel when it came to Captain Marvel.
Inside Out scribe Meg LeFauve and Guardians of the Galaxy writer Nicole Perlman are currently working on the script, which follows Carol Danvers, an air force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the super powers of strength, energy project and flight.
Captain Marvel is scheduled for March 8, 2019, but may make her first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Avengers Infinity War films.
