CBMB: ‘Beasts of No Nation Star’ is Another Stellar Addition to Spider-Man: Homecoming

By Muuka Muyumba

Abraham Attah who burst onto the scene in Netflix’s haunting Beasts of No Nation, has been added to the ever-lengthening list of outstanding actors to be featured in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Attah was just 12 years old when he was plucked out of obscurity by director Cary Fukunaga’s feature film debut.

Beasts of No Nation was supposed to be a star-turn and award-wrangler for Idris Elba, but many said that he was out-shown by his young lead who eaily could have gotten an Oscar nomination had it not been for the Academy’s aversion to the Netflix model. As Agu, Attah played a young villager in an nameless African nation that was torn apart by sectarian violence, saw his family ripped apart, and eventually joins a rebel war-boy group that perpetrates ghastly atrocities.

Now, Attah joins his Beasts co-star Elba, who plays the all-seeing Heimdall in the Thor films, as a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There was no word on who is might be playing, but it appears that Peter Parker (Tom Holland) won’t be the only kid-genius attending Midtown High.

Attah joins Holland, Tony Revolori, Zendaya, Laura Harrier, and Michael Barbieri as Peter’s fellow classmates. The adult cast isn’t too bad either with Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey, Jr., Michael Keaton, Logan Marshall-Green, Martin Starr, Hannibal Burress, and Kenneth Choi.

Jon Watts directs the film that is currently in production and slated for theaters on July 7, 2017.
