CBMB: Avengers: Age of Ultron Tidbits

Avengers: Age of Ultron star Paul Bettany recently spoke with Radio Times about what can be expected from the upcoming blockbuster. Bettany will get to embody his first live-action character, The Vision, albeit under heavy computer generated imaging. Until this film, Bettany has always voiced Tony Stark’s trusty sidekick J.A.R.V.I.S., but Marvel has come up with a new origin for the classic android character.

Okay - now that is what I call awesome.

Bettany talked about the shear magnitude of the film being on an epic scale, even for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

“This is the biggest thing Marvel have ever done,” he told the Radio Times. “It was enormous. I remember we were at Comic-Con and they showed a portion of the footage, and I was just gobsmacked. And I looked down the row and every one of the Avengers was the same, including Samuel Jackson. And his whole modus operandi is ‘I’ve seen everything before, I’m the most chilled out, relaxed man and I’ve seen everything,’ and he was as knocked out as anyone. It’s huge.”

Another bit of news to come out was a rumor that posits a particularly intriguing theory for a mysterious role in Age of Ultron. The folks at Schmoes Know received rumored information that Mantis will be part of the film.

In the comics, the Priests of Pama trained the character as a martial artist and are the ones responsible for dubbing her Mantis. They also taught her how to communicate telepathically with the Cotati, a race of sentient plants. Mantis is also a frequent companion of the Guardians of the Galaxy.  This leads the Schmoes to guess that Mantis will connect Guardians and Avengers more directly Infinity War. Question remains whether that means she may be played by either Claudia Kim, whose character has yet to be named, Leila Wong who is only listed as “Korean scientist”, or someone else entirely.

This week, we got another batch of Age of Ultron promotional art has surfaced now with a new look at Nick Fury, Thor, Hulkbuster and all the heroes (sans the Twins) in international character banners.
