CBMB: Adam McKay Hopes to Return for Ant-Man and the Wasp

By Muuka Muyumba

After significant drama on the Ant-Man front, Marvel resorted to Oscar-nominated Adam McKay to help doctor a new script after director Edgar Wright, and writer Joe Cornish bailed on the project. Many questioned whether McKay would return after such a quick turnaround after the surprising success of Ant-Man.

Recently, McKay expressed his desire to return to Nerdist.com for Ant-Man and The Wasp, noting “[w]e’ve been talking to Marvel actually. We just talked to them the other day, and is looks like I will be involved. I don’t know if it’s gonna be right from page one. But it looks like I will definitely be involved. There you go. There’s a little headline for the fanboys!”

McKay has proven that he is a power to deal with since he made the uncharacteristic dramatic turn in The Big Short. Now, he must be highly in the demand, and there have been some rumors that he wants in the comics games, but possibly by adapting The Boys graphic novel. However, an interesting question now is whether Marvel could ultimately turn over an entire franchise to McKay, who is an admitted fanboy himself, as some pundits believe him to be in the running for The Inhumans.

Director Peyton Reed, and writers Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, and star Paul Rudd have already been confirmed as working on Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is scheduled to hit theaters July 6, 2018, after he returns in Captain America: Civil War, due out May 6.
